What does it take to be a member of the National Junior Honor Society?
Nomination for membership in the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a prestigious moment in one's academic career. Obtaining this credential will allow you to wear the NJHS medallion at graduation and inform the high school programs you apply to of your dedication to academics. The criteria for nomination are as follows:
1. Minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for your seventh grade year and the first semester of your eighth grade year.
2. Minimum "Good" conduct in all subject areas is required.
3. Christian attitude and positive leadership as a student at Sacred Heart Catholic School.
4. Students with an Honor Code violation will be ineligible for NJHS.
Students who accept the nomination are required to write and submit an essay on "Reverence, Respect and Responsibility and Their Role in Who I Am!"
Your nomination essay, your exemplary leadership, your involvement with service and your continued excellence in eighth grade may earn you entrance into this nationally recognized organization and the honor of being inducted at the Recognition Ceremony after mass in May. This honor will also be recorded in your permanent school achievement records. We hope that you will all strive to achieve this award and also demonstrate the necessary qualifications throughout the school year.
